Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our shipping containers and services.

What is the difference between 'New' and 'Used' containers?

New containers, often called 'One-Trip' units, are manufactured overseas and shipped to the US once with cargo. Used containers typically have 10-15 years of service in international shipping and may feature dents, surface rust, and patches, but remain structurally sound and wind/water tight.

How much space is required for delivery?

For a 20ft container, you need approximately 60 feet of straight-line clearance. For a 40ft container, we require at least 100 feet of straight-line clearance to safely slide the unit off the trailer.

Are your containers wind and water tight?

Yes, all containers sold by Midstate Containers are inspected to ensure they are Wind and Water Tight (WWT). This means the seals are intact and there are no holes in the roof or side panels, keeping your stored items dry and secure.

Do I need a permit to keep a container on my property?

Permit requirements vary by city and county. We recommend checking with your local municipal planning department or HOA regarding zoning laws and temporary structure ordinances before finalizing your purchase.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards, wire transfers, and certified checks. For business accounts and bulk orders, we also offer financing options and net-terms upon credit approval.

Can I customize my container before delivery?

Absolutely. Midstate Containers offers various modification services including roll-up doors, windows, HVAC installation, shelving, and custom paint jobs to meet your specific residential or commercial needs.
